Operation Enduring Freedom was commenced, which lead the efforts to purge the Taliban regime in Afghanistan and destroy Al Queda ran by a Saudi fugitive Osama Bin Laden. IN TWO MONTHS, the U.S military removed the Taliban from a rank of power within Afghanistan, but the war continued. Taliban’s autonomous groups lead insurgency campaigns from Pakistan until May 2011, when Bin Laden was tracked down and killed by U.S. forces in a hideout in Abbottabad, Pakistan.
